Its easy to make up a nightly beauty regimen. The hard thing is actually sticking to it. I am constantly browsing the beauty section of stores, picking up products promising this and that and the other thing, but I feel like I never use more than 1/3 of the bottle before either falling off the wagon or moving on to something new. I figured out that I always run into the most trouble when I'm traveling. Its easy enough to keep to my regimen when I'm at home with my own sink and my own products and on my own schedule, but all bets are off when I'm on the road. First of all, I hate lugging all my products around - they get squished, they leak, and I always forget something. Second, I'm completely off my schedule and even if I was particularly ambitious and packed everything I need, I never have time to go through the whole routine.
I've been traveling a lot more than usual these past few weeks. Add to that winter cold and a whole lot of stress and my on-the-go beauty regimen becomes all the more necessary. So, here it is! I promise this is not only quick and SUPER easy to pack (just chuck 'em all in your bag), but its also FAST.
1. Burt's Bees Garden Tomato Toner
This is HANDS DOWN the greatest toner I've ever used. Its fresh, smells great, and is super powerful. Someone gave me a mini sample bottle a few months back and I absolutely fell in love. I buy 3 at a time from Amazon - straight up best investment I've ever made. Just dab a bit on a cotton ball and work all over your face. I focus especially on my T-zone, hairline, chin, neck, and behind my ears (trust me). I have to say, the little indent at the base of your neck might be the dirtiest place on your body - think about it...when do you even wash there? Never! Until now! You're welcome.
This product is also great to freshen up after a long car, bus, train, or plane right. Just dip the tips of your fingers in and dab on your forehead and cheekbones for a total refresh! (Thank you Lauren Conrad for that one!)
2. Pond's Dry Skin Cream
Pond's Cold Cream, Makeup Remover, and Dry Skin Cream are among my all time favorite beauty products. They're simple and they've been around forever. That equals quality people. Plus, they all smell just dreamy. After the toner dries (about 30 seconds) I apply the Dry Skin Cream to my entire neck and face in small, circular motions. You want to avoid pulling on your skin at all costs, according to my mother.
3. Good 'Ole Vaseline
Especially in the winter time, Vaseline is one of the products I rely most heavily on. My aunt refuses to put anything else on her hands, not even lotion, and I kid you not she has the softest hands I've ever touched. Like silk. It may sound a bit old-lady, but I have yet to find anything that is as reliable...or as leak proof on the go. I take about a penny's worth and dab a bit on each of my knuckles, then rub my hands together until it's all soaked in. I also use it on my lips, especially before bed. Don't get me wrong, I I love me some lip gloss, but the last thing I want to do is wake up with tinted lip balm all over my pillow. No shanks.
