It's finally here...well, almost here. Graduation! I could not be more excited to get on with my grown-up, big-kid life. Boston has been so good to me but it's time to start fresh in a new city in a new apartment!
I'm one of those people who anxiously count down the days to even the most seemingly insignificant occasions. It is easy for me to get excited for change - I've moved 7 times in my life so I'd say I'm pretty well versed in moments like these. One way I've found to attempt to corral my excitement is to make paper chains. You know, those things you made when you were 4? My sisters and I used to make red and green paper chains for the days leading up to Christmas, and it is a tradition I have carried with me through my academic career to mark the ends of semesters, of sports seasons, of exam periods, and of school years. One year I was so eager for the semester to finish I made a chain that was 156 links long. While I definitely don't recommend that (that's a lot of paper), I do recommend instituting a paper-chain-like-tradition for monumental events in your life. Here's a glimpse at my chain as it stands.

This year's began with two months to go - 60 days. That may seem like an aggressively long paper chain, but the act of methodically ripping off one link of the chain every night before bed helps me to appreciate just how little time I have left here at school. I highly suggest it for anyone who is as easily excited about these things as I am - sometimes it helps to get yourself in a little kid state of mind and really just take the time to be excited.
It helps me to label each of the days individually on the links of the chain - that way if I'm not around to rip off a link or I lose track it is easy to pick it right back up without a tedious recounting process. I also like to mark out the more significant days along the way as milestones - the embellished pink link marks the final day of regularly scheduled classes!
